1979 Plymouth Volare Wagon

volare4.jpg

This is the 79 Volare wagon I ran. It was run once in our local derby but didn't do too well. Ended up only running the heat race where the fuel line got cut. With no consi that meant that the car was ready for another demo. After that we took it to Bowdle to finish it off. This was my first experience with the worst thing Chrysler ever came up with "LEAN BURN"! I didn't know how to get rid of the box so I ran with it in.

The car held up, but the motor kept vapor locking, so ended up just having fun. The front ends are weak, but the rest of the car is very strong.

1979 Volare wagon ( number 2)

This was the second wagon like this I had.  I had a much better motor so I was really hoping for a good showing.  My heat had a ton of good cars ranging from the Impalas, mid 60's Mopars and some GM wagons.  Actually my car was the smallest car in my heat.  I made my first against one of the worse cars there and I hit him HARD!  I couldn't do any suspension alterations so my back bumper was a bit low.  After my first hit my back bumper actually went down.  I made it up to 3rd in my heat with no consolation heat so my day was done as they only took the top 2.  After the derby I found out that both my leaf springs broke away from the shackles in the rear which made my back end look like it had a loaded diaper on.
